Andrew Romine’s hot start earns him a spot assignment as leadoff hitter and gives Ian Kinsler an early-season day off, something that might not be as rare for Kinsler this year as in the past as manager Brad Ausmus tries to keep his 34-year-old second baseman fresh for the stretch run.
Not surprisingly, this will be Romine’s first career start in the leadoff spot.
