There will be music in Tiger Town even if it means Gardy has to bring a boombox

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Day 3 of spring training came with no music except the pop of the gloves and the chirping of birds on the ball fields of Tiger Town.

Detroit Tigers Ron Gardenhire, who found the atmosphere "dead" when he made his first appearance on Wednesday, has not given up his quest to add some tunes.

The sounds will come eventually. "Guaranteed," he said.

Ultimately, the Tigers will add speakers to the top of the gazebo that overlooks four of the fields. In the short term, Gardenhire will welcome any solutions.

"Tomorrow we may just have a regular boombox out there," he said.
