Detroit – The Sunday crowd of 33,069 was on its feet. They’d waited eight innings for something to shout about and here it was.
Miguel Cabrera was at the plate with two on and one out, the Tigers trailing 3-1 in the pivotal third game of this crucial series against the Orioles.
Alas, the shouting would only be in anger and frustration.
Cabrera bounced into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.
The Tigers put two more runners on in the ninth against Orioles closer Zach Britton -- a walk to J.D. Martinez and a single by Justin Upton.
