Sudden strike: Fulmer falters in 6th, Tigers beaten again by Reds

Cincinnati – National League rules up and bit the Detroit Tigers Wednesday.

Michael Fulmer was cruising with a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning. He had allowed two hits and struck out eight and his pitch-count was in good shape (69). So it was understandable manager Ron Gardenhire let Fulmer bat with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the sixth.

Fulmer struck out to end the threat and then gave up a pair of home runs in the bottom of the sixth as the Reds beat the Tigers 5-3 to sweep the two-game set.
