Giancarlo Stanton was expected to make some history in 2018, but this can't be what he had in mind.
One of baseball's premier power hitters has started this season -- his first in New York -- in an all-time slump. Stanton struck out Sunday in the 12th inning, capping a Yankees loss and putting an unfortunate bow on another five-strikeout game.
Before this season, Stanton had never struck out five times in a game.
By April 8, he had done it twice, and made some unfortunate history:
Giancarlo Stanton is the first player in the live ball era to have 2 games with 0 hits and 5 strikeouts in the same season.
