DETROIT -- The Tigers could be closing in on the free-agent starting pitching that tops their holiday shopping list, entering into talks with right-hander Jordan Zimmermann on a long-term contract.
FOX Sports reported late Saturday night that the two sides were in negotiations, which are believed to have grown serious. A baseball source confirmed the two sides are in talks, though no deal is believed to have been finalized.
Zimmermann would take care of the most pressing need on the Tigers' offseason shopping list, filling the void left by David Price's departure last summer.
