The Detroit Tigers are window-shopping before Sunday’s trade deadline.
And while their most likely area of improvement is the pitching staff, they have not ruled out a lineup upgrade. Specifically, at catcher.
The team is interested in Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, and are one of five teams in the mix for his services.
Lucroy, 30, was a second-time National League All-Star this season. In 92 games, he is hitting .301 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI. Lucroy has long seemed to be destined for a departure from Milwaukee, who is in the midst of a rebuilding process.
