Lakeland, Fla. – Center fielder Cameron Maybin has not appeared on a medical report this spring. He’s been on the field, doing drills and taking swings.
So it seemed unusual that he wasn’t in the lineup Tuesday against the Pirates and left-handed starter Kyle Lobstein.
Turns out, he’s been nursing a sore shoulder.
“He feels good,” manager Brad Ausmus said. “He said the shoulder the last couple of days has felt much stronger. He’s moving in the right direction.”
Maybin injured his shoulder in the offseason when he slipped on his front porch. He was holding one of his children at the time.
