Sleepy Tigers butcher 9th after play resumes in 4-3 loss to White Sox

CHICAGO – It was short and sweet.

And on perhaps the biggest play of the suspended game that picked up on Sunday, the Detroit Tigers looked asleep.

With a runner on first base and nobody out in the bottom of the ninth, shortstop Jose Iglesias failed to cover second base on an Avisail Garcia steal attempt. Shortly thereafter, Garcia scored when Adam Eaton hit a walk-off single. The Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox, 4-3, to conclude Saturday night’s game, which was suspended entering the top of the ninth inning because of rain.

Garcia reached on an infield single against left-hander Justin Wilson.
