Sharp: Tigers bullpen looks better, not perfect

The new bullpen arms bring with them some new optimism. Justin Wilson and Mark Lowe haven’t thrown a single pitch wearing the Olde English D, but they’re already considered two of the Tigers’ bigger off-season acquisitions.

The Tigers’ bullpen the last three seasons required disaster relief. But it wasn’t due to negligence. It was as much the result of bad luck as dreadful execution. But if anybody thinks the Tigers cured their bullpen ills with this additions continue to miss the broader issue here.

They got some solid veteran pieces. Lowe resuscitated his career in 2014, finding a deadly slider proven effective off both sides of the plate.
