DETROIT -- Shane Greene waited less than 24 hours to find redemption for Monday night's blown save.
The Detroit Tigers closer pitched a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.
Tigers starter Matthew Boyd struck out a season-high seven batters through six innings, and relievers Alex Wilson and Joe Jimenez pitched scoreless innings to provide a bridge to Greene.
The Tigers got on the board first after Jeimer Candelario reached on an infield single and Nicholas Castellanos doubled him home in the third.
They added another run on Leonys Martin's RBI double in the fifth, but left two runners in scoring position and wouldn't seriously threaten again until stranding two runners again in the eighth.
