The Hens had this one in hand behind a solid outing from Drew VerHagen, but the bullpen fell apart late to blow it on Monday. VerHagen went five scoreless, allowing just two hits while punching out three. The offense backed him with five runs by the time the third inning wrapped up. Willi Castro’s RBI double in the first inning started the scoring, and he came back in the second with a two-run single in the second inning. John Schreiber came on in the sixth in relief, and has been perhaps the Hens most consistent performer recently, but he allowed six earned runs and couldn’t escape the frame.
