BOCA RATON, Fla. – The storm that is Scott Boras hit the general managers meetings just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, sending baseball writers scurrying as they assembled to hear the biggest agent in baseball.
And during an hour-long media session that touched on everything from the collective bargaining agreement to cake, Boras talked about the Tigers and his expectations for their off-season.
Before this week’s meetings, Boras met with owner Mike Ilitch and general manager Al Avila in Detroit, where they discussed the team’s plans for the off-season.
“I expect the Tigers to do everything they can to be competitive,” Boras said, when asked if he thought the team would spend big this winter.
