The teams traded blows throughout this one, but Victor Alcantara and the Hens’ defense fell apart in the eighth to lose it. A.J. Ladwig was knocked around in this one, allowing four runs in four innings of work. The bullpen didn’t do much better. Jacob Robson launched a solo shot, his second in two days for the Hens since his promotion, in the first inning. Kade Scivicque and Ronny Rodriguez had RBI hits in the second and the Hens built an early lead. They mounted a brief comeback after Ladwig let the lead get away, but Victor Alcantara loaded the bases in the eighth, and Zac Houston allowed a grand slam that proved the winning margin.
