Lakeland, Fla. — One way or another, Warwick Saupold is coming back from the World Baseball Classic with some gold.
The Tigers’ right-hander is leaving Tigertown and flying to Korea on Friday morning to join his Team Australia teammates as they begin their WBC quest in a tough pool assignment against Japan, China and Cuba.
Winning gold in the tournament may be a long shot for the Aussies, but airline gold is almost a certainty for Saupold.
“Yeah my frequent flyer points are through the roof,” he said. “It’s probably raised about two status levels.
