Anaheim, Calif. — The Tigers reached a point of no return with two big-salaried, veteran pitchers at the end of spring training and were willing to release both Mike Pelfrey and Mark Lowe and eat the $13.5 million due them.
If the Tigers are reaching a similar crossroads with Anibal Sanchez, they aren’t saying so.
“The course has remained the same,” manager Brad Ausmus said Thursday. “Nothing has really changed.”
General manager Al Avila is not with the club on this trip, so whatever conversations have taken place regarding Sanchez’s future have been over the phone.
