Lakeland, Fla. — If there was one issue that has hung ominously over the Tigers’ collective heads this spring, it’s been the health and readiness of No. 3 starter Anibal Sanchez.
It was touch and go for a few weeks while he battled both triceps inflammation and a persistent virus. Even Sanchez was worried.
“Yes, especially when I get the elbow (lower triceps) early in the spring,” he said Friday after the Tigers closed their home spring schedule with a 9-4 win over the Rays. “I thought I was going to have to miss half of April.
