Ronny Rodriguez handed his uniform to Toledo Mud Hens manager Doug Mientkiewicz after getting called up by the Detroit Tigers on April 14.
“Hey man, this is my uniform,” Rodriguez said. “Throw it away because I don’t want to come back here.”
Mientkiwicz burst out laughing, then said: “Make sure you don’t come back.”
Rodriguez has played 834 games in the minor leagues over nine seasons, mainly in the Cleveland Indians organization. He played another 153 games in the Dominican Winter League.
