BALTIMORE — It is probably too harsh, even inaccurate, to call any Major League Baseball game meaningless. No matter how ugly the records, how lopsided the standings, fans pay hundreds of dollars to watch players who, in some cases, earn six figures a game. And there’s no telling when a random act of baseball might turn a bystander into a fan for life.
So, even at a time when at least a third of major league teams are either in full rebuild or trying to wriggle their way out of one, there are no meaningless games.
