Cincinnati — Been there done it.
Johnny Barbato has ridden the shuttle between Triple-A and the big leagues multiple times for multiple organizations (New York, Pittsburgh and now Detroit) over the last three seasons. So when he got the call at midnight that he was to meet the Tigers in Cincinnati, he just shrugged and asked what time’s the flight.
“It is what it is,” he said. “Just another day.”
Barbato, who had thrown a nine-pitch inning for the Mud Hens on Tuesday at Gwinnett, was up at 4:30 a.m. to catch a flight out of Atlanta to Cincinnati.
