PHOENIX — Major League Baseball’s labor committee will review an economic proposal Friday before it’s formally submitted to the players union, the first major step to settle their financial differences, two MLB officials with direct knowledge of the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports.

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the ongoing negotiations, said the proposal likely will be presented to the union Tuesday after Commissioner Rob Manfred privately shares it with the 30 ownership groups in a conference call earlier that day.
