Report: Tigers in 'serious talks' with P Jordan Zimmermann

The Detroit Tigers are swimming in the starting pitching waters.

They have engaged in "serious talks" with right-handed starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, according to Jon Morosi of Foxsports.com.

Zimmermann, 29, posted a 3.66 ERA this past season with the Nationals, striking out 164 batters in 201 2/3 innings.

He has thrown over 190 innings in each of the last four seasons. He has two All-Star appearances, and threw a no-hitter in 2014.

Zimmermann sits near the top of the second tier of free agent pitchers this off-season. He likely will command a contract in excess of $100 million.
