Report: Tigers acquire closer Francisco Rodriguez

The Detroit Tigers have found their closer, and not among the thin crop on the free agent market.

The team has acquired veteran right-handed closer Francisco Rodriguez in exchange for infield prospect Javier Betancourt.

The trade was first reported by Venezuelan baseball writer Augusto Cardenas and confirmed by multiple national and local media.

Rodriguez, 33, is the active major leagues saves leader, with 386 in 14 seasons. In 2015, Rodriguez posted a 2.21 ERA with 38 saves.
