Report: Mike Aviles, Tigers agree on one-year deal

The Tigers and free-agent utility man Mike Aviles have reached an agreement on a one-year contract, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

Last season, Aviles, 34, batted .231 with five home runs and 17 RBIs in 98 games for the Indians. He's previously played for the Red Sox and Royals. He played all three outfield positions as well as at second, shortstop and third.

In eight seasons, he's hit .265 with 58 home runs and 292 RBIs. The New York City native made $3.5 million last season.

The move could be the end of general manager Al Avila's offseason checklist for the Tigers.
