Red-hot Tigers win 4th in a row, beat Blue Jays in front of packed house

DETROIT -- John Hicks fouled off five pitches and then slapped a bases-loaded single up the middle to score two runs in the eighth inning, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 7-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.

The Tigers (28-30) have won four in a row and six of their last seven, while the Jays (25-32) have lost five in a row.

Hicks had struck out in all three of his previous at-bats and was in danger of doing so again. But down 0-2 in the count to Jays reliever Seunghwan Oh, he fought to stay alive and then broke the tie with the RBI hit.
