St. Petersburg, Fla. — The Tigers’ four-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt Tuesday night.
The Tampa Bay Rays gave rookie right-hander Beau Brieske the worst beating he’s endured in his short time in the big leagues, banging out six runs on nine hits against him in 5u2153 innings and beating the Tigers, 8-1, at Tropicana Field.
It looked early like Brieske wanted to establish his breaking pitches after watching the Rays attack fastballs against Alex Faedo Monday night. But the Rays flipped the script. They scored a run in the first on two singles off sliders.
