The Detroit Tigers dropped game two in their series with the Tampa Bay Rays by a 4-0 mark on Wednesday night. It is the sixth time that they have been shut out this season.
Defensive miscues set the tone for the Tigers’ demise, as they committed three errors. It was smooth sailing for Spencer Turnbull through the first two innings, until a wayward throw to third base on an Austin Meadows triple allowed him to come home to open the night’s scoring in the third inning. After an Avisail Garcia RBI double in the fifth inning, a fielding error by JaCoby Jones on a Ji-Man Choi base hit would allow Garcia to come around to score, making it 3-0.
