DETROIT -- Michael Fulmer earned his first win at Comerica Park since last July 15 the hard way, dueling Lance Lynn for seven innings before JaCoby Jones' slump-busting two-run homer in the seventh put the Tigers on top for a 3-1 win over the Twins on Thursday afternoon.
The rubber-match victory swung the three-game series to Detroit, now a game and a half up for second place in the American League Central. Just as important, it rewarded Fulmer for his second straight solid outing as he settles into his old form.
Fulmer (3-5) tossed seven innings of one-run ball here against the Indians last week, suffering a no-decision opposite a Trevor Bauer gem.
