Other than another step towards a top-five draft pick next summer, there wasn’t much positive for the Tigers to take out of Monday’s 11–0 loss to the Indians. A clean inning and crisp fastball for Joe Jimenez might be the exception.
“That was the best Joe’s looked since he’s come up here,” manager Brad Ausmus said. “There’s no question about that. He had a good fastball, the best fastball we’ve seen.”
Jimenez insists there was no mechanical tweak, nothing different about his delivery as he sent down the Tribe in the bottom of the seventh inning. But his average fastball velocity of 96.
