Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila had a fantastic day Tuesday, drafting Spencer Torkelson with the first pick in the 2020 MLB draft.
Which is to say: Avila didn’t mess it up. Taking one of the most prodigious power hitters in recent college history, a guy who looks like he will anchor the middle of a batting order for years to come, when your system is starving for bats, isn’t exactly rocket science.
