Verlander was excellent again for the Tigers, but the offense could not provide any support.
For the second start in a row, Justin Verlander was excellent. The Detroit Tigers’ starter surrendered just one run over eight innings, but the offense was essentially useless as the Tigers endured a 1-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.
The first couple innings looked similar to the night before, as the Tigers got men on base but struggled to bring them home. J.D. Martinez and Victor Martinez both singled in the first inning and Steven Moya doubled before James McCann walked in the second, but Chris Tillman was able to work around both jams.
