One pitch spoils Boyd's brilliant outing in Tigers' loss

Detroit – One bad pitch.

That’s essentially what did the Tigers in Wednesday.

“I want one pitch back,” said Matthew Boyd, who will happily live with the other 101 pitches he threw in a brilliant 7.2 inning effort.

But that other one beat him.

Boyd caught too much of the plate with an 0-1 fastball with two on in the fourth inning. Jose Ramirez slammed it into the gap in right-center field, scoring two runs.

Ramirez scored on a sacrifice fly by Jason Kipnis and the Indians had all the offense they needed, beating the Tigers, 3-2, and snapping their three-game winning streak.
