The Detroit Tigers announced on Saturday they have acquired righthanded pitcher Nolan Blackwood from the Oakland Athletics as one of two players to be named later to complete the trade for righthanded pitcher Mike Fiers.
Blackwood, 23, is ranked as the 30th-best prospect in the Athletics organization according to MLB Pipeline. The 6-5, 185 lbs., righthander has posted a 6-3 record with a 4.08 ERA (53.0IP/24ER), 48 strikeouts, a 1.43 WHIP and a .280 opponent batting average in 39 relief appearances with Double A Midland. Blackwood earned Texas League midseason All-Star honors earlier this season.
