Afters years of debate of what to do with the former Tiger Stadium home field, work is set begin this spring for a new youth sports facility and headquarters for the Detroit Police Athletic League.
On Tuesday, a host of political and community leaders gathered at DTE Energy headquarters downtown to hear that Detroit Police Athletic League had reached its fundraising goal, raising about $12 million.
PAL, along with city and state officials and representatives from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr., Skillman and Kresge foundations, made the announcement about PAL’s “Kids at the Corner” fundraising campaign, which will contribute to the development of the old Tiger Stadium space into a new PAL sports complex.
