Oklahoma native Michael Fulmer stunned by Bob Stoops' retirement

DETROIT -- Count Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer among those stunned by the reported retirement of longtime Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops.

"I saw it before I came over here. It was very shocking," Fulmer said before Wednesday night's game at Comerica Park. "I know Matt Martin's not going to be happy either."

Martin, the Tigers' defensive coordinator, is a huge Oklahoma fan.

Fulmer, who grew up in the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond, said he's a fan of any school from his home state, but in Bedlam Series between OU and Oklahoma State, he roots for the Sooners.
