ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- When Niko Goodrum and his agent were scouring rosters for the best opportunities over the winter, the Detroit Tigers seemed to make a lot of sense.
The Tigers needed a new utility man, possibly two. And Goodrum had just finished a season in the Minnesota Twins organization in which he played all seven positions.
The rosters won't be set officially until after the team's workout on Wednesday, but the Tigers informed Goodrum earlier this week that he had made the Opening Day roster.
Outfielders JaCoby Jones and Victor Reyes have been given the same news.
