DETROIT -- Nicholas Castellanos had five hits and drove in five runs to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 9-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night at Comerica Park.
The Tigers (50-69) have beaten the White Sox (42-76) in nine of their 10 meetings this year.
It was the first five-hit game of Castellanos' career. He singled in the first, doubled in the fourth and fifth, hit a two-run homer in the seventh to give the Tigers the lead and then added insurance runs with a two-run single in the eighth.
Tigers starter Artie Lewicki walked three batters and a hit man, but escaped two innings with the help of catcher James McCann, who caught two runners stealing.
