So when left-hander Matt Hall was called up to big-league camp to get a rare opportunity to pitch in a Grapefruit League game on Feb. 24, he wanted to leave the best possible impression.
Instead, he walked three consecutive batters and was quickly removed.
Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said afterwards that "it was like the game just stopped. It was like the sand glass just got stuck with mud....Sometimes the hardest thing to watch is when a guy gets a little goosey out there.
