When Casey Mize returned from his 2022 UCL reconstruction surgery last year, hope was rekindled that the 2018 first overall pick could finally take the next step and become more than just a solid depth starter. It took time, but just as he was fading into the background this spring in the wake of Tarik Skubul’s ascendance, Mize is finally on his way as well. His outstanding work in spring camp has carried over into two dominant starts to begin the season, and all the vital signs look extremely favorable.
The soon-to-be 28-year-old was most recently seen carving up the hottest offense in baseball in what we’ll describe as mild Midwestern snow globe conditions on Monday afternoon at Comerica Park.
