You have likely heard by now, but the Detroit Tigers are down a few starters due to injury. Lefthander Ryan Carpenter arguably fell as low as ninth on Detroit’s starting pitcher depth chart on Opening Day, and is already in the Tigers’ rotation due to injury. Now, with Tyson Ross hitting the injured list over the weekend, Detroit has to find yet another injury replacement for Wednesday’s game against the Houston Astros.
The problem? There isn’t an easy solution in sight. All of the potential replacements on the 40-man roster — lefthanders Matt Hall, Gregory Soto, and Nick Ramirez are the only ones stretched out — worked long outings on Saturday, putting them at just three days rest for Wednesday’s game.
