MLB releases views of controversial call at home plate in the Tigers and Dodgers series

Let’s reset the stage on this one real quickly. In the top of the ninth of Friday’s extra innings loss to the Dodgers, new Detroit Tigers outfielder Manuel Margot came up with a game-tying single to score Ryan Kreidler. Riley Greene followed, ripping a double into the right field corner. Teoscar Hernandez, and he and Tommy Edman produced a strong relay in to catcher Austin Barnes at home plate.

Margot would’ve scored easily, but he stumbled for a moment coming around third and then tried to dive over Barnes sweep tag. He was ruled safe, and multiple replays only showed Barnes tagging him on the foot with his hand already on home plate.
