DETROIT -- The Boston Red Sox are World Series champions and the ticker tape from their parade will still be fluttering in the air as Major League clubs start turning their attention to 2019.
Eligible players can file for free agency beginning Monday. There is then a five-day period in which teams can negotiate exclusively with their own free agents but not sign anyone else.
The Tigers have three Major League free agents: shortstop Jose Iglesias, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano. (Designated hitter Victor Martinez is also a free agent, although he plans to retire).
