Major League Baseball is investigating allegations of domestic abuse against 11-time Gold Glove winner and Hall of Fame candidate Omar Vizquel that date to 2016 when he was a coach with the Detroit Tigers.
Vizquel, 53, was booked in January 2016 on charges of fourth-degree assault in King County, Washington, The Athletic reported Wednesday, following an incident in which his wife, Blanca, suffered injuries that were photographed by authorities. Vizquel was not prosecuted for the incident.
MLB's investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation.
