Thursday was supposed to be one of baseball’s holiest of holidays: Opening Day (the earliest in MLB history, at that), with the Detroit Tigers originally set to play in Cleveland at 1 p.m.
Instead, the coronavirus pandemic has pushed the 2020 season’s start back at least to mid-May — and that’s an optimistic time frame —leaving the Tigers and MLB are in limbo.
But we won’t let that stop us from remembering some of the highlights of Opening Day for Tigers teams of the past.
