Mike Fiers, Detroit Tigers roughed up by Kansas City Royals, 10-6

What happened: The Detroit Tigers lost to the Kansas City Royals, 10-6, on Thursday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium. The Tigers pitched awfully. They swung the bats fine. Miguel Cabrera returned to the lineup at designated hitter but left the game with right hamstring tightness. Right-hander Mike Fiers allowed five runs in four innings. The Tigers’ bullpen allowed five runs in four innings. Nick Castellanos hit a home run. The Tigers are 13-17.

Starting off: Fiers featured his normal cloak-and-dagger stuff but the Royals (9-22) came around on it. He battled a bit of bad luck in the first inning when a single ricocheted off second base to score a run, but overall, Fiers wasn’t effective.
