MINNEAPOLIS -- The Detroit Tigers were mired in an offensive slump and facing a pitcher they've always struggled against. They were missing two key players in their lineup due to injury. And, oh yeah, they had to win this game.
Miguel Cabrera planned to do something about it.
"I was just trying to make something happen," he said of his base-running exploits in the fourth inning Tuesday at Target Field.
Cabrera turned a long single into a double (sliding in just ahead of the tag) to lead off the inning. Then he tagged up and advanced to third on a fly ball to not-very-deep center field.
