BALTIMORE – On Saturday afternoon, hours before the Detroit Tigers were to try and score a run for the first time in 22 innings, manager Ron Gardenhire wise-cracked that he had yet to decide if they would, indeed, score that night against the Orioles.
Good thing for Gardenhire that these days, Miguel Cabrera plays on his team. And that Cabrera – and fellow countryman Victor Martinez – love hitting at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Cabrera was a one-man wrecking crew and Martinez added some late-inning insurance as the Tigers beat the Orioles, 9-5, snapping a three-game losing streak.
