DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera will go through months of rehab after he undergoes surgery on his left bicep on Thursday in New York.
But he's already crossed one hurdle: The mental one.
"The hardest part in the beginning is accepting it. It's that whole process you go through," said Tigers head athletic trainer Doug Teter. "Today Miggy walked in the door and said, 'All right, what's next?'"
Thursday's surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altchek. The subsequent rehab will take place in Detroit, not in Florida, a mutual decision between Cabrera and the club.
Teter spoke to reporters Wednesday about the "distal bicep tendon rupture" that forced Cabrera out of Tuesday's game and ultimately ended his season.
