CHICAGO — Six months ago, Miguel Cabrera looked back to form.
Temperatures were in the low 80s as spring training was winding down. The baseballs he hit were banging off the batter’s eye in center field and flying over Grapefruit League fences in right-center field with authority. Cabrera was smiling.
But shortly after the Detroit Tigers headed north, the comeback season he believed was in the cards once again fell victim to his physical decline.
