HOUSTON -- Miguel Cabrera is back.
After spending more than a month on the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 3 left calf strain, the Detroit Tigers activated their star first baseman before tonight's series opener against the Houston Astros (8:10 p.m., FSD).
To make room for Cabrera on the active roster, the team optioned left-hander Kyle Ryan to Triple-A Toledo.
"I'm feeling good," Cabrera said during this week's series against the Kansas City Royals.
He has been taking batting practice for the better part of three weeks and recently took groundballs at first base, completed agility drills and ran the bases.
